Does your exhaust....

...get quiet after 2700 RPM? I have flowmaster on my 4Runner and it sounds awesome on low rpm, but just around 2700-3000 RPM it loses the sound

mine does quiet down, but not much, course its not that loud to begin with (Borla cat-back). It sure made a difference in the seat of the pants department though.

I can't hear mine when I'm crusing, my tires are too loud. But I don't remember it quieting too much from before I got my tires. I also have a flowmaster.

I have a Dynomax and there are really only about 2 spots on the tach where I can hear it...at 2k and 3k in any gear is when its the loudest in the truck. People say its pretty loud all the time but then again, nobody drives my truck except for me and my dad occasionally so I have no way of knowing.

But of course now I have a hard time hearing ANYTHING but the stereo and the howl of my tires, which doesn't bother me one bit

Just thought I'd kinda throw that out there,

Fink

I had that problem when i had a flowmaster, but since I got my magnaflow and my Gen2 K&N cold air intake it sounds way sick.

That's the range these engines like to run in. Think about running 3000 rpm uphill at WOT vs. 3000 rpm downhill in gear with no throttle. Does your exhaust sound the same? Your motor gets quieter as it gets happier with its driver.

same thing with my flowmaster. i dont really hear my exhaust after 2000 rpm anyways because of my tires ... and i dont hear any kind of exhaust after 3000 because of the deckplate and isr mods.

I was thinking that the point the system is loudest, is its resonance point. When it resonates, it is working at its most effecient point of input vs output. This will change somewhat due to diameter and length of the system.
