Denso Iridium Plugs

I am going to be getting my 60k overhaul soon and I have been reading some pretty good info on these Denso Iridium plugs. Would they, along with some new Magnacor plug wires, produce any noticeable performance gains or are they hype like most things. Thanks guys. Later.

The only thing you will notice will be due to the new plugs.

Naksukow,
Any HP/torque gains or strictly "seat of the pants" feel?

I am not an expert on plugs. I am just saying that you will notice an performance increase due to the plugs being new. It will idle better, improve gas mileage, and better throttle response. The best thing about Denso Iridium Plugs is they will last longer than stock ones.

Matt:

I just purchased my Denso Iridium plugs (1 step cooler "IK20")and should have them installed this weekend. I'll also be cleaning my MAF sensor and throttle body. I also run 8mm Magnacor wires.

Do our 3.4L V6 (5VZ-FE) have Toyota Direct Ignition System (TDI). TDI is distributorless right?

What are the advantages of the TDI system?

Yes, however it is called (DIS) Direct Ignition System. Its version of this system is Simultaneous DIS.

Quote : Engine Control systems I, course 850, Toyota Technician Handbook.
Simultaneous ignition has one coil for two cylinders. In this system an ignition coil is mounted directly to one spark plug and a high tension cord is connected to the other spark plug. A spark is generated in both cylinders simultaneously. Cylinders are paired according to piston position. Typically, the spark plugs with this style of ignition system are platinum tipped for stable ignition characteristics.
End Quote.

What are the advantages of the TDI system?
Simplicity, reliability stand out. And I would also have to say Performance as well. This taking in to consideration all the moving parts that can wear on conventional systems.

Jay,
What's your opinion? Would I be wasting my money or is it worth the cash? Later.
