Decorative Skid plate for 2000 4Runner?

Hi all,

I'm trying to find the best place to buy a silver decorative skid plate for my '00 4Runner. Are they available or do I need to buy one for the Tacoma and make new brackets?
I'm looking for one that looks like this...but this one seems to be for the newer models.

Thanks,
Mike

buy the one for the tacoma, and make brackets. The actual one for the 4runer is over $300. The tacoma one can be had for about $100. There was just a thread on here about this very thing...but im not sure where.

I had one a while back I got from ebay. It was wrapped with Toyota stuff, donno if that was real or not but, it was only about $100. It was the one that fit the Tacoma.

No special brackets were needed. It bolted up perfectly to your stock front hook location

This ebay seller has genuine toyota parts. I bought the Tacoma one which fits the older 4Runner bumper style no probs. You will have to fab brackets if using the Tacoma skid on a "fat-lip" bumper.
Was only $79

^^^^ what he said.

i got one for a tacoma and it fit just fine with supplied brackets, but that was on my '98 with a different bumper than your's. i'm sure you'll need different brackets to accommodate the "fat lip".

I tried the tacoma skid plate on my "fat lip" 4runner. It sorta fit, the front of the skid plate actually rode against the bottom back part of the bumper.

I changed over to the sport skid plate which has about 1.5" clearance from the bumper and sits a little farther forward.

The tacoma one was sorta hidden by the bumper and you had to actually crouch down to see it.

And now it's on my truck and I did fab brackets to extend it about 3" to hug the "fatlip" perfectly. I did have to grind the rear part of the bracket tofit the tow hook properly since in the pic you will notice it's backwards but that's fixed now.

How can I get the sport skid plate and how much did it cost you? I do like the way X-awdriver's looks.

The plate is the same,it's the brackets that are different as you can see from skjos' truck.

The Tacoma brackets fit the non fatlip bumpers perfectly but without the extensions I made it sat well under the bumper (like skjos stated) and looked stupid but I prefer the plate hugging the bumper so I'm glad I used the Tacoma brackets.

It is as snug as it can get without putting any pressure on the valence;I got lucky with the measurements the first time.

I tracked down a picture of my old tacoma skid plate installed without custom brackets:

I need to get off the ball and get this thing listed in the marketplace to offset the cost of that damn sport skid plate.

Yep,that's what mine looked like when I first installed it and realized a little custom work would be needed.
