Dealership is Screwed

Brought in my 93 4Runner for the HG replacement. Had to go back today and pick up my free rental. While I was there I needed to get something out of my truck. Guess what...It was no where to be found, we searched the whole lot but still nothing  . They think the tech took it to a Dr appt., but they are not sure. They were like your so calm about this, so I told them I'm not worried cause if it dosen't show I'll just pick a new one from the lot.

...They just call my truck is back and they will call back after they sort it out. I already have them doing a new timing belt for free because of this. How hard should I twist since I have them(for a change) by the nads? I already told them dont just fire the guy to make me happy...you can have him take care of a few things for me. What else should I nail them for? Give me some good realistic ideas

I had the same thing happen to me but I filed a complaint with Toyota corporate. They lost my truck when I went in for an oil change! One of the lot attendants took it to lunch, when it finally rolled in 2hrs after I dropped it off the little punk had my stereo cranked.

That dealership paid for the oil change and bought me some new speakers. They have been trying to resolve the complaint with Toyota corporate for almost 1 year now. I refuse to let it go.

Oooh man if we messed with the radio or anything like that we are fired no questions asked, unless we are working on it. Sometimes a tech will take it out for lunch or for long test drives usually to get a better idea of the vehicle, but our service dept. members usually know so no worries.

You really aren't gaining much from them by having them change out the timing belt for free. The additional labor is zero (they have to remove the belt to get the heads off anyway) and the additional cost of the new belt is negligible. Try for more

hey, wierd you got the rental... i was told that it was not covered in the campaign, as for the tech taking it out for a spin, i'd be mad as hell... you brought it in for service, not so they could rack up your miles. get em for as much as you can. i mean, they screw us everyday.

tell them to take of your license plates and fit it to a new 4Runner, that should be a sufficient repair. You can call it a license plate repair Then you can drive off with the new one.

It's not...but if you squeeze them, you'll get it. Last time I had the HG done I had their 2004 Camry for 3 WEEKS! And I drove it like I stole it
Still holding off on getting the next HG done...the last dealer only offered the rental for 1 lousy day.

Angry

-bump- to sticking it to the stealership that so often sticks it to us,
but i would definitely press for more, they deserve it in that "joy riding & jamming in a customers car" is not in their job description, the nerve!

get a major service done, change all fluids, brakes, maybe some discounted new tires, a complete in and out detail job

everytime you walk in for service they want to bend you over, now you can bend them over, don't let up

I do not see where that matters. Basically the dealership/tech are only authorized to drive the vehicle when they are working on it.... Taking the vehicle when the employee is on their lunch hour/to an Doc Appt (key word is personal time) is a big no no. If it happend to me, I would file a police report that the vehicle was stolen or such, which it was and then make a complaint with Toyota.

I'm with you on this - if I found out that a dealership abused their responsibilities with my car, I would hit the roof also. I was making a comment about people who freely write about how they in turn abuse dealer loaner cars, or speak of how they will try to extract revenge.

What happened to axon is flat out wrong and the dealership should do its best to make him happy. I would just be careful about writing freely on a public forum.

Lets look at it like this, Dealerships are the most F up places that we as consumers or customers deal with and we take it, so many people I know got screwed over and never did anything cause it was just to much or a pain to have to take time out.

Some dude on clublexus went in for an oil change with his GX and got his truck back with 110 miles, if that was me I would have been tearin heads off til I got an answer.

I've worked in Dealers and done work for Dealers as a private contractor, it's just a messed up enviroment, the new cars are new cars, most of the time they are only driven from the lots to the dealer and the new owner takes them, same with customer cars, you do the work they need and you test drive them, taking a customers car and just leaving for an hour or 2 is stupid and I would call the cops and say it's stolen, nothing wrong with stopping and getting lunch with a new car or customer car if it's on the way, it's done and that does not bother me.

Most techs are good and many salesman love their jobs but you have the idiots who don't care and just like anything they cause problems, dealers go through mad crazy help, mad crazy equals 9854985984598xinfinity

Dealers will bend you over and call your insurance company and charge your CC if you scratch a loaner but if they damage your vehicle they expect us to take it, I say if the positions where switched and you had a Toyota loaner and decided to keep it for a 3 days instead of 1 they would do the full extent to cause you problems and get it back, I've had a Toyota dealer call the cops on me cause he thought I stole the car, thing stalled 2 miles down the road, really nice cops helped me out.
