Dead Tach

Among a handful of small problems that are begining to crop up on my '90 4R there is one that has me and wondering where to begin. The tach on my Runner just died a while back and hasn't shown any signs of life since. Just curious if anyone knows where to begin or what to look for in this case. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply...sorry it took so long to get back, been really busy. On my '90 4R I don't have a coil pack...it has a distributor. I did check the wires going to the ign. coil and they 'appear' to be fine, no corrosion, cracked insulators, ect. Any other ideas? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

There is still a coil. It runs the voltage to the distributor to distribute to the individual plugs. I will try to get a pick of the wire that you need to check for a reading (I will try to post tomorrow for you. I have it market on my t4r since it is the one that the remote start picks up its reading from. You will want to read the wire with a voltmeter.

Matt, just curious if you've had time to get that pic? I would appreciate it if you can swing it. If you want you can email it to me: huffspeed at prodigy dot net

If not, I understand, no worries.

Thanks.

Mine is intermittent too. Only works when the engine is running...
