Question Same Problem

I have an 87 runner and have the same problem. Although I have an A/T trans. and that light is on too. The funny thing is when I drive on the free-way and don't use over-drive or drive in second gear and let the engine rpms reach 3k they turn off. I tried a few things and they didn't work. I hope someone that is familiar with this (electrical?) problem will reply back, before I take it to a shop.

Im not all sure about the battery light coming on....but with the brake light.....i would check your front pads....my brake light came on a few years ago and i thought it was an electrical problem with the parking brake sensor....but sure enough...it was trying to tell me that my pads were getting really low....after spending 300 bucks for ONE oem rotor not including installation from firestone i knew what the light was for...haha.....i still think i got ripped on the price of the rotor...haha
