Unhappy Dampening Wind Noise?

Only recently have i noticed that my 4runner is terribly noisy inside the cabin during driving. I haven't noticed the cross wind noise due to the fact...i listen to my stereo at max.

But the other day, while driving on the highway (with no radio), i noticed that the wind noise was tremendously annoying and sounded as if i had my windows rolled down.

What kind of crappy quality is this? i didn't pay $30k for a damn noisy car!

Is this normal? and if so, is there anyway to dampen the noise?!

Actualy normal, just crack your tailgate window a little. I also found cracking the rear windows helps too.

Mine is kind of noisy, but it is a 96 and not as bad as the wrangler I owned before.

Don't forget that it's a truck and it has the aerodynamics of a brick.

Robinhood150 is right. Trucks are like huge bricks going down the road. Have you added Ventvisors or a bugshield? I know that I seem to get more road noise in my taco with the ventvisors.

What about tires? A meaty tire will give you much more road noise too

It's funny because I didn't notice any wind nose in the cabin until recently. Ontop of that, the road noise isn't bad... it's just the wind noise (sounds like seeping in from the left and right vents).

But I noticed that the noise is prominent when i hit over 50 miles per hour.

I should look into replacing my 02 with 03...the new 4runners are really nice and quiet. Of course the luxury comes with a higher price tag... which i don't mind.

thanks for the reality check yalls.

I realized I have a lot of wind/road noise after I took out my system as well. There certainly is a lot, but my truck is solid so I guess it's just due to the fact that it's shaped like a big box and has aggressive tread.

Did some one else drive it lately and change where you usually have the air mixture. (recir/fresh) Something might be interfering with the air flow into system. Just random simple ideas...
My '85 pick up is noisey whenever its rolling.

Oh to dampen the noise you could try sound deadening? My pickup is dead quiet with 2 layers in it.

I dunno man but my truck is pretty quiet no matter what is going on outside...and my last car was a GS300 (quietest car ever tested by motortrend)...now the 4runner isn't that quiet, but it is certainly acceptable for a truck...

Just my .02...
