custom crossover pipe ideas?

those of you with v6 headers, what have you done for a cross over? i need a design that will still allow removal of the tranny with out cutting the pipes each time... will that put the crossover behind the transfercase? or is running it under the trany like the downey kit still the best bet? any of you out there running the v6 without a cat? is it super loud or raspy? i'm about to have a new 2.5 inch exaust built and need some ideas....

When I was looking at getting mine built I didn't like how it fit running it behind the transfer case. Plus I think I remember it blocking a drain bolt that way. If I have to pull my transmission I'm just going to have them cut my pipes on each down pipe and put a flange connector on each so I can unbolt the cross over. You could have your built that way.
Also from everything I've read it's a better idea to run 2.25" off the headers and a single 2.5". Even that is supposed to be a little big for our engines.

Here's my story...

http://www.midiwall.com/4Runner/headers.html

My crossover is shown in the last pic on that page, but it's since been replaced with a bolt-in piece for reasons that Jesse stated (...if I hav to pull the tranny...).

Also note the link to the sizing chart on there. 2.5" pipe past the collector is okay, but on the upper edge if you're N/A. Though if you're looking to get a S/C come day, then 2.5" is the right thing to do.
