Could taking apart my rear lift gate cause my keyless entry to stop working ??

I took the electrical apart in my rear lift gate on my 99 so I could remove my license plate surround. I have not put things back together yet and now my keyless entry has stopped working ???

What have you unplugged? Would it be because the lift gate is open?

Is it a factory keyless entry? I wouldn't think because it's seeing the gate open for them not to work, kinda like having a door open and the locks not working…

I believe the keyless entry keyfob receiver is in the tailgate, so you probably unplugged it. I had some broken wires in the harness between the gate and the body and the keyfob didn't work until I fixed them.

the receiver for the keyless entry is in the tailgate, there is an orange plastic electrical box on the lh inner side of the tailgate. Mine didn't work work at one point and a few wires came out of the electrical connector.
