Could not part with my 2000 4Runner

So I was all set to get a new truck. I was leaning towards a pickup and I do like the Tacoma but when I thought about giving up my owned since new 2000 SR5 4Runner I just could not do it. Granted, the truck is my second vehicle as I have a low mile Corolla for my 110 mile round trip to work. The truck is used for hunting, fishing and trails mostly so at present sees very few miles. So instead of buying something new I treated her to new wheels and tires and a day of beauty at the detailer. I still love everything about this truck. With 105,000 on the odometer and no issues to report I think she has quite a bit of life left in her.

I went with Ballistic Jester 17x9" with 4.5" backspacing and -12 offset. I know a lot of you loveeee the black wheels but they are just not my thing so I got the chrome. The truck is never wheeled extremely hard so I guess I went for some bling. Don't be hatin!

The tires are Nitto Trail Grapplers in 295 70R17 and replaced the well worn Terra Grapplers in the same size. I took off a set of 17" Tundra wheels which required 1" spacers for clearance. I always seemed to have a bit of shake at speed with the spacers but since they are gone the truck rides beautifully. I have just enough room between the top of the tires and the stock upper control arm (I can get my hand in there) so I do not know if that will become an issue, but so far - at least on the road - it has been just fine.

I have included a couple pics. Let me know what you think. I know chrome is not for everyone but I think it looks awesome.
Thanks for reading,

Primo

Love it. Great rig man!

Same boat as you... I just bought my wife a 2007 4Runner and I love driving it all the time. Made me seriously consider buying a tacoma or first gen tundra. Then I drive my 97 4runner with 220,000 miles. I have a bond with it like I cant get rid of it. I just spent the weekend replacing the rear axle seals and about to replace all the bushings but literally there is nothing wrong with it. I'm replacing parts because out of sheer age they just need to get looked at. Do I have fantasies about getting something new.. YES. Will I ever.. who knows. But if I post it in classified the lucky buyer will get a truck that has been loved.

Good man! She's definately a beauty at that. I have had a 95' runner since 04 that i feel the same about. I know in terms of practicality I should sell her so I can afford more money towards the other two runners I own ( an 86' and a 90') but when it comes down to the core It doesn't happen. My 95' is now planned to be a trail rig when the time and resource comes for it but until then I love her way too much to let her go. I believe in this day and age one should never sell what the own and love, that's just me though. Either way you made a great decision keeping her.
