# of Coils in Stock 96 Taco front springs??
I just replaced my old Rancho's with some new Billy 5100's. I didn't have a strong enough spring compressor at home to compress the coils so I took them to a shop and had the shop swap over the shocks after I took the strut out of the truck. Yesterday I was taking the 3" block out of the rear leafs and replacing it with a 1.5" block and noticed my truck was sitting high on the passengers side. I double checked that i had the 5100's set on the same perch and they were. So then I counted the coils on my springs.....driver side had 8 or 9, passenger side had 11...WTF???
I bought a better spring compressor and dropped the passenger lower spring perch so now my front is level, cheap quick fix until I can get new springs.
But, can someone tell me which is correct.....9 or 11?
Thanks!

I would put it back and swap the struts on the front the battery is heavier and it needs more support as well the fuel tank needs more so then I would adjust the rear
where are you I have a pair of stock 99 struts in the bed of my truck and will part with them pretty easily.

My 96 4runner had 10 blue/blue on the driver and 9 blue/yellow on the passenger.

Thanks Eddie,
Even though I don't want to admit it, because I don't want to swap these struts again , I agree with you to a degree. The fuel tank adding extra weight to the drivers side yes, but it seems most of that should be absorbed by the rear leafs. A 40 pound battery in no way warrents two extra coil springs in a 2 ton truck, I just can't buy that one. However, all things being equal and trusting the shop didn't accidentally install a wrong spring, my truck was level before I swapped shocks. I'll swap them again soon enough simply because things like this drive me nutz, and I'm ready to drive my friggin truck!!!!
BTW - Did you live in Marietta?, I used to live in North Georgia for a while, grew up in the SW corner of Ga.
Thanks,
Lance
