check out my new yota

well its new to me.
1988 4runner
3.0 v6, 5spd
SAS, winch
he said it had a bad exhaust valve, so the engine was torn down, but he gave me the old stuff as well as a box of tons of new parts for it. new heads, all the gaskets and whatnot needed for the engine. All new bearings and gaskets for the front axle. THere was an elocker sitting in the seat, i think thats gonna go in the front end and im gonna get some type of locker for the rear. he also brought me a set of 1ton axles from a chevy, dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear end. its a project but its cool. i already have a dual case adapter and all that on the way, gonna use a the tcase case out of a 85 truck i had for parts.
here are some pics http://filebox.vt.edu/users/john2537/88%204runner/

Is that fpkelly's old rig that was advertised on YT? Looks like that one will be some fun once you get it all back together!

yeah i got it from FPkelly, nice guy. he even drove it from st louis to virginia for me. cant ask for a better deal. yeah i have BIG plans for this thing, but its gonna be awhile. i just found a place to re-machine 60 shafts, that way i can narrow that new axle abit.

I was going to trade my runner for it and was all set to do it but I guess he changed his mind and wanted cash for it instead.
Congrats on it.

I wouldn't narrow those axles so you can use off the shelf parts if you break a shaft.

Damn that thing looks familiar! Ohh wait, it was in my garage just the other day! He almost hit "my precious" backing that monster Durramax and trailer up.

Good buy! I didnt know he was throwing in the axles too...that's a hell of a deal!

josh- it would be really hard to break a 60 shaft on a yota, but if i did narrow them, the guy said he would do the shafts for 40 a piece. i still havent decided if i want to make that big of a leap in the buildup of this truck.
poboy- he had a hard time getting that truck and trailer in our driveway, cause he has to turn so wide, and the radius of the driveway here is real small. it woulda been a shame if he had gotten your perfect 4runner.

whats the front? chevy or dodge. dodge is 67.5 and its not to wide i dont think. i am runnin a dodge 60 in the front with 2.5 bs 15x10's and 42 tsl that are beadlocked and i dont think its crazy wide. why do u want to narrow? is it a dd? i have found the extra width makes mine alot more stable then they 8inch was

its out of a 85 chevy, i havent actually put a tape measure on it to see how it would mount up with the diff side spring perch being part of the diff housing. But if i can make it work eventually, i think full width axles would be cool.
is your 92 a V6 or 4cyl. also what cases, or adapters are you running, cause i am still trying to figure out exactly what to do.
