cheap exterior thermometer

FWIW
didn't want to go through the work and expense installing a new rear view mirror with temp, so picked up a minn kota water temp sensor with a 10 foot lead for 6 bucks on ebay. velcro to a thin walled 1 1/2 aluminum angle and velcro that under the dash so it lays over the shifter cowling. lead zip tied to grill. seems pretty accurate, probably too much so--sit at a light on a day like this and it responds quickly.

How long do the batteries last? Is it backlit?

Thanks.

no backlight, I have the ashtray light suspended just under my cb and it illuminates a bit. no idea on the battery life, it hasn't died yet, but it's only been in since first week in July.

good luck with it, so far it appears to be extremely accurate.

I have something similar. Runs on one AAA. I think I've replaced the battery once in 4 years.

Got mine installed and seems very accurate as well. I mounted the sensor on the backside of my grill with 3M doubled sided mounting tape.
