cheap emblem mod

i had seen a colored emblem on ebay ( well actually its a gloing emblem) , and it got me thinking , hey my emblem isnt colored and it should be .
so igot to thinking , i bet some model paint and a steady hand could do a good job at it , well , ive got one coat on , and it looks like poop right now ( i guess i dont have as steady of a hand as i thought) but im going to put more coats on, and see how it turns out . im thinking now maybe i should have used touch up paint, that way the color would have been a perfect match, but for about $3 in paint and brushes and cleaner , i couldnt wait to try it.

ill post a link with pics of before and after each coat goes on . so give me a little time .

man i didnt think about the vinyl sticker stuff , if this doesnt work out , i think ill go that route.

how hard is it to get the emblem off , then get it back on?

i got my brush guard on there so it is making it a bit of a pain to paint especially vertically . i was i na hurry to see how it would look too .

There are two emblem mods in Tech in the Cosmetic section.

One by Bob, and one by Butnut.

Yeah I used red vinyl. The first time I took the grill off, took me about 10-15mins and then another 5mins trimming the vinyl for the emblem and then another 1min to put the grill back on. Very simple mod for only 20mins tops Goodluck

Question What adhesive

Were I say to paint this, is there anyspecific reccomended tye of adhesive to use for re-application? I have some 3M spray-on stuff that's the stickiest stuff I've ever seen (beats super glue), and I'm sure that'll work but is there one specific type that is reccomended?

Hey Wise Acre! It was in the middle of winter when I took that pic. (OK, you caught me... looks like that now and it's nice weather)

My first attempt to color the emblem was with the color matched touch up paint. A disaster. Spray paint may have been better, but sign vinyl is so much cleaner, easier and holds color and shine for years, mine still looks new, an occasional cleaning with a detail brush is all you need to keep it nice.
