ok, update: I drove to Austin and it flashed like usual. 60mph it flashes every few minutes, 80+ mph it almost doesn't stop flashing, It finally went solid and flashed. I checked for codes and it says P0302. Cylinder 2 Misfire.

Think it might be Cyl #2 injector?

Did you ever check the injector resistances like I suggested in the second post of this thread?

Did you have your timing belt replaced recently?

Best of luck with your issue.

Yeah those Toyota engineers don't know anything about these trucks

I say the air going into the engine is too clean, try putting a K&N filter on it, that should do the trick.

A few more magnetizers will probably fix that pesky misfire and give you better fuel economy at the same time.

Wow, rigorous testing by the US government confirms! That must have been during the Clinton administration.

well it look slike i am going to have to pull the intake so i can test the injector. i might switch to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows that injector.

Yeah I say follow the diagnostic proceedures of the FSM. Here's some online links if you don't have one:

Looks like these are the possibilities
Open or short engine wire
Connector connection
Vacuum hose connection
Ignition system
Injector
Fuel pressure
Mass air flow meter
Engine coolant temp. sensor
Compression pressure
Valve clearance
Valve timing
ECM

wouldn't some of those items not explain the check engine only on the freeway?

how do I ohm out the injectors? is this something i can do in my driveway? I am pretty mechanincally incined. I just did my valvecover gaskets so I am familiar with pulling the intake off.

That's a good question, the flashing CEL on mine happened on the highway too and it only happens if I try to retard the timing more than 6 degrees with my piggy back.

So lets think about what's going on on the highway; the engine is seeing a greater load the faster we go, especally if you have a lift, big tires, bull bar, etc.... In my case anyway (auto tranny and 5.29 gearing) I'm seeing higher rpms there too. I also see my hottest coolant temps on the highway, probably because of the higher loads on the engine. I sometimes see my boost gauge hit in the 5-7psi range just to maintain 75mph up a small hill with the cruise control set.

So guessing* at possibilities:
Higher fuel demand..(fuel pressure or injecter problem maybe)
Higher temps..(Temp sensor maybe)
Bigger load.. more compression

*don't assume I know what I'm talking about for sure

Did you not find a testing proceedure in the FSM for that? I'm not sure from where to where to test, but I'm guessing* its testing the resistance of the wires with a multimeter or ohm meter to look for a bad wire or connection. Maybe the wiring from the source (ECU pinout plug) to each injector plug or maybe just the injector itself. Maybe a bigger question is what's the range of specified resisance, and that should be in the FSM.
