I use a blue LED. It's mounted in the dash pod, just above the speedo/tach gauges. It's bright and in plain view from any window.

I did see some on E-Bay made by Varad. I think I'll just tell them not to install the led and I'll do it myself. I don't really like where they are going to put it.

I was lookin on ebay for what my friend had in his sunfire. It was a row of leds that mounted on the rear view mirror and faced outward. When it was armed instead of having a blinking led, it woud blink going left to right like the strip bar type lights. It would just go left to right back and forth while it was armed. IMO it was eye catching... I dunno if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Blue LED's are kool. I had 'em in my Runner 1 day and switched to green. The whole interior lit up. Over here, any blue light on your vehicle is illegal. Somehow, legilation was passed giving cops the right to ticket you for any blue 'bulb'. Even those hyper-white bulbs which have the blue coating on it. Somehow, they feel you are impersonating a cop. Another dumb law that makes no sense. I did'nt know the LED was that bright so I thought I could get away with it...douh. I still see a few blue alarm scanners, LEDs...I believe the fine was 1K  I got better thing to do than contribute to the policeman's ball.
Oh yeah, alarms are a good thing. I got the AutoPage. It also has the pager I carry with me.

Ok, here are the pics of where I mounted my blue LED for the alarm. It's a bright blue, easily seen at night but still subtle enough that it does not light up the street and draw attention to the vehicle.

I have the red LED installed between my two switches.

It is a warning to would be theives that you are protected, and this may save your window from being broken out first as they would not know you had an alarm if not for the LED.

So yes, I'd always go with an LED to let punks know you are amred.

A buddy of mine installed an LED on both sides of his car, in his case in the "triangle" that is on the inside near the drivers and passangers side mirrors. There was a plastic piece there, and he said that a thief could see the LED from many feet away, on either side. It made it better than making them peek inside first. He said that way they would see the stereo and disreguard the alarm.

I have tweeters in those spots, on my Limited, but i bet I could run the alarm wires up there also.

Dan
