Cant find lift for my truck!

I have a standard 2001 tacoma 2.4 liter 4 cylinder 5 lug truck and cannont find any type of lift for it. Im only finding lifts for the 4wd and pre-runners. Does anybody know if they even have a kit for my truck? and if so where I can find it? Or any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to lift my truck in the front a couple inches.

It is because you have a 2WD. Try a body lift.

you should look at a 4x4 and determine if the mounts for the shocks on yours are any different from the 4x4. if they are not then if you just put the 4x4 no lift shocks and springs
it should be quite a lift on your truck am not sure about the leafs.
is your axle an over leaf axle if so just converting it to an under leaf will give you about 3"
in the rear!

instead of looking for "lifts" look for after market coilovers! this is probably where you will find what you are looking for! for your Taquito

sorry couldn't pass that one up

sell and get another truck would be the ultimate solution.

Well Ive already got a 4x4 vehicle so Im not looking to sell my toyota. It's just sits a little low in the front and I want to level it out. Ive found two things that might work: a $2,000 total chaos "taquito" lift, which Im not going to buy. And 1.5" spacers, which say works for 2wd but you never know. I bought one kit already from skyjacker and was under the impression that It would work for my truck, but didnt find out until I went to install the lift. I found these spacers which im hoping is for 2wd Tacoma's and not 2wd pre-runners.

I feel like there has got to be a way to lift my truck without spending a fortune, Ive seen pictures online of lifted 2wd.

Ok now I have gone and found you some thing to try and see!
Can't hurt!

I called Alcan to see if they did coils and He referred me to:

http://www.coilsprings.com/

Coil Spring Specialties
632 W. Bertrand
St. Mary's, KS 66536
Kevin
785-437-2025

The reason I throw this out there is that not only are taco leafs notoriously weak
but so are the coils!

If you wanna do it right call and see what these guys say about it!
please update us on this!

Remember this guy is recommended by ALCAN so I am pretty sure that
they would not recommend a place that is not good "BAD for Business"

Good looking out, I appreciate all the input. I e-mailed them with my dillema and will let you know how it goes....Did you take a look at those spacers I made a link to? I have a feeling those could be the ticket to a quick cheap fix....The only problem is that I think they might require a coil compresser, and I would probably rather just have a shop install it using a coil compresser. Im really also kind of on a budget and dont want to spend more than like 400-500, being that the lift is more for aesthetic reasons I dont see the point in dropping too much money for exceptional off-road performance.

Lightbulb

I really don't think that it will run you over your budget to do the coils!
I may be wrong!
I did just do the shocks on an old '75 Nova I had years back and that alone gave me a slight lift.

The spacers if they fit would probably work.

I am just a big fan of replacing the problem rather than bandaid's

So if you find you can afford it I highly suggest you do new Springs and Shocks.
I really think that you would be happier in the long run!

However I understand the budget and hope that if you decide to do the spacers
you will be happy with the results!

Thanks for that link, one of these kits is what I will be going with.

However, i was hoping someone could lend some advice. Im deciding between the 3.5" "performance kit" which comes with new coils, add a leaf, and performance shocks front and back-about $900

then there is the 3" "spindle lift"- spindles for the front, add a leaf in the back and performance shocks all around.-$600 Im not sure how a spindle lift works so Im not sure if the $300 extra dollars is worth the extra .5" and the new coils......

This lift is more for aesthetics, but not entirly so I need avdice on which kit might be better for my sisuation. -thank you

also, Im not exaclty the richest man right now, so if thier is not a huge difference Ide probly go with the spindle lift for $600

I really advise against an AAL simply because a leaf that has an inverted arch is not a good spring and an aal will just go bad really quick!! If you are going to spend that much go with the front but get them to cut you a break with out the leafs and get alcan to make you some may take you a few months but will save you a lot of energy in the long run!!!

New coils and shocks for the front but stock leafs are no good what so ever and AAL
is a bad IDEA!

if its for looks I say go for it, all your lift comes from the spindle. I do think it would ride some better with the springs though. but, if your not offroading it, then it won't matter. add-leaf, for hauling tools, gear stuff in the back..should be no problem. just make sure you have gas shocks with your kit.

I'm no car genius but i think i can give a basic explanation of how the spindle lift works...
the spinlde is the piece of suspension that the control arms bolt to and the front wheels are attached to (go look at your truck if you're confused already). this can also be referred to as a "steering knuckle" but i think that term may denote 4wd(?). anyways a "lift spindle" simply is a longer (taller) one than the stock one so that where the wheel bolts on is further away from the top of the wheel well tan the stock one. lift spindles (to my understanding) don't modify geometry at all and beacause the spring and shock do not have to be changed (although youd probably want to) the spidle itself doesnt alter the ride quality. the only thing ive heard to be wary of when putting on an aftermarket spindle is that upper ball joints may wear out quicker.
