Can you remove emblems on a 2nd Gen?

Hey guys I saw this kinda cool mod over on ODW where I guy removed his Toyota emblem on the front and put colored textured plastic behind it to match the color of his truck. It was on a 3rd Gen. My question is can you pop the Toyota Emblem off the grill on a 2nd Gen. I went out and pried on it a bit with a screwdriver but was afraid of breaking it. Has anyone ever removed theirs?

It's probably screwed in through the back of the grille like the 3rd gen. Not sure, though.

BTW, when I first did this mod, I wasn't sure I liked it. Now every time I see the front end from a distance I like it better and better.

Cool

That's kool Chuck. What kind of material is that? I used sign vinyl. Speed shops have a fake carbon fiber sticker, but I thought it's too close in color to stock. I like my 2 tone look...

Yes, I liked what you had done; that's what got me going. It made me think of trying a red-white-blue combo in the different ovals. I still may try it, or something else altogether. The whole process is so quick and easy that it's easy to change your mind and try something new.

The material I used was cut from an office folder. Kinda like a fancy filing folder. I saw it in an office supply store and liked the texture. Thought it would match a little better than it does, but it's pretty close in most lighting conditions.

That is really cool guys. I know I was talking to you before Butnut about it and I am really interested in doing it as well. I want to make it the color of the body, so I will have to see if I can find something that matches it closely! Where can you get this vinyl stuff at? Can you get it at an office supply store or where?!?! :beaver:

Hey Ryan. Call any sign shop. They computer die cut letters with an exterior vinyl. Better shops have tons of colors to choose from. You only need a tiny scrap piece...maybe a buck? Good luck. Funny how cheap mods make you feel like a million?

Hehe...I was asked that before. That was one of my fav shows way back when. There is a guy who goes by that name...I sent him this forum link. He has a killer Runner and mods to match his name. His latest trick was making one of those V-dub switch-blade key remotes, using the Toyota guts and key! He's the real deal...I'm the cheapo knock-off.

Butnut, cool, thanks alot. Is there anything special that I have to ask for? Any type or anything and I am assuming that it has to be self-adhesive? Thanks! :beaver:

I don't know the trade name, just ask for vinyl sticker material. They should know. Have fun.
