Buying at Wal-Mart

Ok I went to Advace Auto Parts, and they are out of Sylvania Siverstars. They wont be in stock for another week. I just want some! Will Wal-Mart have Sylvania Silverstars? And will they be the same quality?

Wal-mart here has the silverstars. I don't think there is any difference where you buy as long as they are silverstars. They were $38 a pair for the ones for my Taurus (9007)

How are those silverstars? I think I know what you are talking about,... I spent a good amount of time in the walmart automotive light section and noticed these bulbs for like 40 bucks,... they clain that that are brighter than most or some %,... I think they silverstars but are they that much better?

Well...

I used the Sylvania Silverstars (H4) on my Honda CR-V and wasn't happy with it's life span. Sure enough, those are brighter than OEM bulbs but they lasted for me for only a year.

Better alternative IMHO are PIAA Bulbs...

Good luck,

Nam

But aren't the PIAA's life span as bad as the Silverstars if not worse?

Make sure you get the right part number for your vehicle. Also, don't touch the glass part of the bulb while installing them. The oils from your skin will shorten the life of the bulb.

I think the 2000 4runner uses a 9003 bulb (??)

my friend bought some from a performance auto shop and they said that they would explode if you touched them. But he is probably full of it.

Exclamation Warning

I can't be certain about silverstrs (exploding) I got some for xmas and instaled them, I love them, they are great. Be warned though, I do a lot of work for live theaters in the lighting department. I wear vinel gloves whenever I do bulb work because a high intensity bulb can and will explode if skin oils contact the glass. It is not unreasonable to think that auto-bulbs would do the same, BTW, flying glass shrapnel sucks, avoid it, don't touch glass.

No unfortunately he's quite right. Those bulbs are under incredible power and therefore immense heat. Oils from your skin can heat up rather quickly and cause the bulb to blow.

A parallel is to anyone who works in the professional A/V business or has taken theatre in high school. Those 1000W bulbs that go in the stage lights will easily explode if they are touched. It sounds like a bomb went off when that happens.

I had a pin hole in the lense in my tercel and I blew 2 or 3 headlight bulbs from the moisture inside the housing.
