What would cause a burning rubber smell while the heat is on.....I was driving my friends BMW tonight and while the heat is on it puts out a constant burning rubber smell accompanied by a small cloud of smoke coming from the front of the car when I stopped? Im Guessing its a belt

 

maybe cuz its a beemer??? yeah check the hoses/belts, or maybe somethins messed up in the heater core

 

Check your belts, and hoses.

Is it an older BMW? some of them have 2 blower motors. One for heat and defrost and the other for A/C. Mine had one that burned out and it is located in the firewall almost in the center and has to be accessed from under the hood.

 

Its a 95 525 it seemed to do it when the heat or A/C was on....more so heat.
