Broken zerk - what now?

I got limiting straps for my current setup (OME 891 rear spring + OME N86C rear shock), but couldn't mount them right,
so I took them off and went off-roading anyway.
I was under the truck today and what I see? - no zerk on the rear drive shaft and a nice dent on the gas tank skid plate. :wtf:
I guess OME setup really needs limiting straps.

Anyway... what to do now?
How to remove remains of the zerk from the joint?

The zerk fitting should be threaded. Try using an EZ-out in the hole that remains when the head of the zerk breaks off. This has worked for me in the past.

also try a sharp tool such as a probe to twist it out. sometimes they are very loose and you get enought gip to swist it out.

I used the taperd/square tip of a small metal file once.

where can I get the limiting straps from? and what type (size) should I get?

On this last run, I had just installed OME in the rear and really banged things out under the truck

I bought them from MasterCraft.

After looking at the gas tank skid plate I rather think now that limiting up-travell will help rather than down-travell limiting straps.
Of course I'm putting the straps anyway.

BTW to get the zerk out I used a 6-arm-star screwdriver.
I hammered it into the zerk and then unscrew it.
