Well I got my ball joint spacers installed today. I bought another cutoff wheel and finally ground the other side then I had to use the dremel to grind material from the center hole on the ball spacer once that was done they fit right on.

The front actually is almost level with my rear FJ80 coils now. I probably need to turn the front torsions down a couple turns.

Rancho 5000 RS5167 front shocks installed as well.


This side one bolt wouldn't fit through the predrilled hole so I will need to drill it straight to fit a bolt in later on.
I know the rust it's painful it's something that happens back east....

Looks good. I'd sugges turning down those bars some. Looks like you are running about 3" total lift between the spacers and adjustments. Better to be around 1.5-2". Not that you can't leave it there just be aware 3" is hard on CV's and boots. Lowering the front should improve trail flex too.

I noticed no rubbing. What size tires and back spacing are you running?

Ya I know I plan on lowering it some in the front probably to 2-2.5" of lift. I think it is about 3.5" in the front right now because in the garage the front end was actually sitting a little higher than the rear.
Also I would suggest to anyone who decided to get some ball spacers get some manual hubs. The CV are extended at a harsh angle road use that's just my observation on it.

I am running 33x12.50's on 15x8 4" backspaced wheels there is roughly about 3/4 - 1" of clearence from the tire to the upper control arm.

I was going to install mine today, but I will need shocks first. Mine are too short and have no room for any kind of shim.

How much did you trim with the dremel? Could you possibly chamfer the edge of the spacer instead? I like the height, looks great.

I used a angle grinder for the A-Arm. A dremel would be painfully slow doing that. I think you could get away with just 2 notches on either side and possibly trimming off just the lip on the back of the a-arm.
I used a dremel on my spacers because the center holes were rough cut in spots and didn't fit quite right so I had to grind some material from them.

Evidently the spacer isn't rubbing, it's the a-arm that has the possiblity of rubbing. So it wouldn't do any good to trim or chamfer the spacer.

I agree, lose the dremel and get a die grinder (like a super dremel on roids). You can get cheap ones for about $20, you do need a good air compressor though. Or the angle grinder is great too.

My neighbor is running stock shocks with some washers to shim them so they don't limit the droop.

Figured out the shock thing today. The KYB's I have are only 13 1/2 inch, and the Rancho's are 15 1/4. Who else makes a 15 1/4 to 15 1/2 shock??

Have you checked procomp shocks? They have a variety of sizes also you might check with bilstein.

Here is my comparison from stock length to lifted using rancho shocks at least for what I have installed which is FJ80 short side coils and 1.5" front ball spacers.
Some people have used RS5009's for the back I decided to use RS5017's since the length of them better matched the FJ80 coils.
On the Rancho RS5017 shocks I had to pop the lower bushing out of it and put a rancho poly pro 5/8" bushing in and had to use a drill it make the hole a little larger to mount it on the bottom mount other than that it fit right on.

Front

Stock shock RS5145 9.375" Comp / 13.375" Ext / 4" travel

Lifted shock RS5167 10.25" Comp / 15.25" Ext / 5" travel

Rear

Stock shock RS5187 13" Comp / 20.75" Ext / 7.75" travel

Lifted shock RS5017 15.125" Comp / 25.25" Ext / 10.125" travel

They seems to work great. More clearance and a better look for the truck. One question? Seems like the hole in the sapcer will be a nice place for water to sit, and might cause a rust problem. Anyone think about this and any solutions?

That's why Frank had the drain slot cut into them. You didn't put your's on upside down did you?

Mike's got it. That notch faces downwards to allow the water, etc.. to flush out.

Oh well! When I got them in ther mail, the bolts and nuts were on the note side so I assumed that the notch went up. I do not remember reading in the install instructions about the notch. If it is not there, you may want to add the info. If it is there then I missed it. I will flip them the next time I get into the front end. Mike
