I have an 02 tacoma and noticed when i turn my headlights on, the brake lights illuminate as well. Anybody ever experience this?

 

I have a smilar problem with my 87 with the headlights off everything is ok but when I flip on the headlights I can't really tell when I'm braking.

 

Do you have aftermarket trailer wiring?

 

I have no trailer wiring and have done nothing to my electrical system.

If you search this and do not find your problem, I would look to the combo switch as your problem, most vehicles will have the brake lights run through the combo switch so you may have an internal short. I am not sure about Tacoma's and don't feel like looking up the wiring schematic, sorry.

 

The problem is solved finally. Took my truck to an autobody shop and they noticed that one of my brakelight fillaments was melted down which was connecting to the other fillament. Replaced the bulb and everythings cool now.
