Brake light problem

Brake light problem
2002 Tacoma SR5
I have replaced the brake light bulb it worked for a while. Now, the bulb is fine and the left tail brake light will not work. I do have a trailer wiring kit installed.......just wondering if that is what's causing my problems.
I have been fighting this for a long time on the truck. thanks in advance for your help.

Have you checked/cleaned the bulb contacts in the bulb holder ?
