I am new here but have read the previous posts for advice on my 4runner.
I have a question. I replaced my calipers, rotors and brake pads on the front of my 1996 4runner sr5. I replaced them with OEM calipers, power slot rotors and Yellow EBC pads. My problem is that when i start the toyota and drive maybe ten feet the right calipers sticks. I have to throttle hard and it releases. After i drive for about fifty feet it ceases and does not come back. I do feel a little drag as i go. The left one is fine. The ABS light on the dash operates normal when i start up. I have a six inch lift with 35's on. I have bled all the brakes in order twice. The master cylinder is fine. Could it be the rotors are messing up the ABS sensor or it could be bad? I hope this is not it as they are expensive. I read in previous posts that you have to bleed the brakes with a special ABS system. Suggestions anyone? I am stumped. Thanks.

Might be a bad caliper. How do you know the master cyl is fine?

Hopefully there's some type of warentee on the caliper.

 

Calipers are about two weeks old. How can you tell they are not? The brake peddle is still firm and if it is weak that is a sign of a master needing replaced yes.

 

Calipers although 2 weeks old are remanufactured (not new) and need to be replaced under the parts store warranty as they are bad.

I had a pair of 1 year old calipers go like this, no warning just one locked up.

That is what it sounds like. Just cause something is new doesn't mean it's not bad. That includes alternators, calipers, batteries all that fun stuff.

On my Porsche I went through 3 alternators I think before I got a good one.

 

While you are at it, I would look into checking the rear shoes as well for even braking pressure.

My T100 had all kinds of issues with my brakes, we would bleed it like 10x over and over and over again yet the pedal still felt like mush. Short of replacing the master we checked the rears, rear wheel cylinders were shot...

Always a good thing to check when doing your brakes.

 

Ya thats what i meant. Remanufactured not new. I will take it off and return it. Thanks for all the advice, i really appreciate it. pkt replacing those alternators in porsches are a pain in the butt and you had to do it three times. I would be mad.

sounds like a bad caliper. I had the same thing with a 89 Toyota pickup.
