Body lift 9-10 brackets

Does anyone run the 1" bodylift w/o the 9-10 mounts on thier 96? I plan on installing mine this weekend, but will not be able to get the 9-10 welded on immediately. ANyone know if this is unsafe?

it doesnt ride any different now or anything. just be sire to torq down the bolts good or it will move. and take the lower rad shroud off before you start the engine.

yeah i missed that one. not sure if i was suposed to take it off, but it made hella noise when i started it. the fan was rubbing into the shroud. it came off in 2 seconds with 2 metal clips that hold it on. (i didnt have any instructions to go by, just reading up on here..)

I have had mine on (2") for about a year and a half, and its okay.

I'd certainly feel a lot better If I had the mounts welded on though, but, Im just a lazy POS.

LOL, I just dont have access to a welder...and I am a lazy POS like you. Should I just stick the 9-10 mounts on and have someone weld them on later? Will it work like that?

Kyle, do you have a write up/directions to the fan shroud thing? I cant find it on the instructions.

Did you guys just use a hilift and jack off the body...heh heh hehhh

Also, how do you get the front in the air if you have TJM? Sorry for the million questions, i just want to make sure I have everything down.

also, anyone have the torque specs?

no, i just pulled it off, the bottom half is a half circle piece, has a metal clip on each side. and fits in a tab on the bottom. took 2 seconds to take off.

mahe sure to use a long 2x4 (3ft or so) on the pinch weld to jack it up.... i didnt and have a dented pinch weld now....

as far as torque, i guestimated the weak number that everyone suggests and it moved, so i took the impact to it and hit it till they didnt move any more. i hit and let off, not just one constant on, i didnt want to break them.

the body literally shifted 2" to the drivers side. i could feel it was off. i should have taken a picture of the mounts all canted sideways.

I put my 1" RB BL on in a couple hours. I didn't think it was a bad job at all. I would not use a highlift - I used a couple of hydraulic floor jacks with a chunk of 2x4 to spread the load on the pinch weld. I had to lift it further than I thought at first to separate the body from the frame, but once I did one side, the other went smoother. All in all, not big deal. Just take your time, and double check that everything is loose.

yeah put the steering extension on. yes i rubbed. the rear bumper, the pinch weld, nearly took the fender flair off, hits the pinch weld, had to trim the front bumper and front flair piece. It doesnt rub on the street, but off road i took the f and r bumpers off. I nearly took off the fender fairs on the front, and ended up ripping out one of the front fender liners. a 1" is barely enough. i need to bang the pinch weld and trim the front flairs a little.

oh dont lift the drivers side too far as you can rip out the fuel tank wires, and take the fuel filler loose as it will stretch a little. 2" might need an extension. not sure though.

On a 2" body lift on a 3rd gen the only thing you need to check/loosen are the bumper mounts on the sides where they attach to the body, the battery cables and the fan shround. Get a steering extension too. For a 1" body lift, not much to it. No body lift should take too long or be that much trouble, even alone...if you bother to read the directions.
