Question Black Pearl Emblems

I decide to paint my gold emblems black pearl using Bob_98SR5's write up. Before I begin the process I want to know how it would look on a Imperial Jade Mica (Green) truck. If anyone can post pictures, it would be great.

you might want to reconsider. i thought that he used the chrome as a base and then sprayed thin TRANSPARENT coats of black pearl paint over them. you may want to double check. if you want to try one to experiment, do it with the "TOYOTA" one on your back gate. it's the most dispensable...

Mine are factory Black Pearl. Personally I like them way better than the chrome version. Look around my site for more pics...

Oh, I like them too, but he's going to paint his GOLD one's, and I was pointing out that the gold may show through the black pearl paint and not look so hot.

bama's got a good point. how about trying a coat of primer before you lay on a coat of the pearl paint?

RSimon, i recently painted my gold emblems black following the write up you mentioned. I am pretty strongly opposed to gold emblems, but couldn't afford to buy the real black pearls. Although they look much better now than they did in gold, i would second Bob's statement on the need of a coat of primer. I did not primer and it took an awful lot of paint to cover up the gold, causing the job to come out looking far from professional. Also, in some of the tight corners the gold now shows through. I would call it a ten-foot job at best. However you decide to do it, Good Luck!
