Well it was a very big week for the ole 4runner...i haven't hardly been on this forum in a few weeks b/c essentially..i had a bunch of parts that came in- and accumulated...but didn't have the time or assistance to install them..so my 4runner activity was somewhat at a stall..


However....between Saturday and Tuesday...i got a lot done.. we installed the new style headlamps, the Burtman corners to match...as well as Euro Tails (yes i know u all hate them..) which were also from Jason Burtman....i was willing to be the guinea pig and try them despite the fitment issues everyone was told of....and it turned out that they worked...the left one is a perfect fit...while the right one has one screw hole that doesn't match perfectly (i have no idea how the manufacturers could possibly screw that up)...however the screw goes in far enough to make it perfectly stable..and thus they work.

Yesterday...tuesday...we proceeded to install my levoc shift knob, my new air horn (the toyota horn was way too annoying)...as well as a Go Rhino Sumatra Chrome grille guard...which is amazing....and threw in the deckplate mod as well...

All of which i am extremely happy with...my front end looks great- but now i just need to get some chrome on the sides...next up is chrome nerf bars and fender trim...

I've asked this before, but with no response...does anyone know if it is possible to get chrome trim around the windows? As seen on various different cars...and also..is it possible to buy chrome door handles? Thanks a lot...

sounds like you had some fun with your rig. sounds nice. you should be able to find some chrome door handles, have you looked on ebay? the window trim should also be possible... take a look in the Vendor Links . there are a lot of good sites listed here. Jason B might also be able to help you with some of this... hope i helped

 

Geez, I'll say that is a busy week. Sounds like alot of fun. I wish I could get some cool stuff and spend that much time on putting it on. Very cool! Nice work. You should snap some pictures so we can see it! :fireman:

 

Sounds great. I'm glad you got everything on ok. In about a week it's all going to fall off, hah. j/k. You got some high quality stuff on your rig.

 

I put the chrome door pulls on mine. I doubt they will be on Ebay as it is a special order for the '02 Runner 'chrome package'. I got black trim, but they have a few painted color matched outer trim. They are about 80 bucks each. The rears are a pain to install, fronts were cake. Window chrome trim may not be possible as it is all molded rubber except the 2 straight door pieces. Sounds like you're going mod crazy...post some pics!

Those door handles look really good...but how do i go about getting them? I have to order the entire chrome package?? And if so...where do i find that? Thanks a lot butnut...

 

I thought it was on all second gens mine has crome door handles so they must have done them but then again it is fron japan if you get stuck i might be able to source them from japan as there are a few dealers who import wrecks for parts

Also butnut..r those chrome side mirrors you have? Or side mirror covers i should say? Was that also in the package? And will this fit my 97????

Thanks CTB. Hey C2, the 'chrome package' is a dealer only option from Toyota. Any Toyota dealer can order items for you. You can order pieces separately. The package has, chrome mirrors (new 2000 shape...mines are Japan covers, but I still had to order new mirrors) chrome door handles (only have a few colors), chrome tail light trim (have to order new 2001 style) chrome license surround (available on 2002) and a dinky chrome tip (you don't want that). All these items were a Japan only items before, now it's a US option so you can order from your nearest dealer. Mark, I was thinking of using 2nd gen pulls, but the internal guts and the plastic surround are very different. Good luck man.

So let me get this straight...i can buy the new shaped mirrors..and then use the chrome covers? And also...the chrome surrounding for the tails only works if u have the new stock tails? Meaning it wouldn't work with my altezza's?? And also....my nearest dealer is like 30 min's away..and being quite busy as of late..i don't anticipate being able to get over there and order from them...is there anywhere online where i can order? Like toyotaparts4u.com ???

You complainin' about a 30 min drive? I drive way over an hour just to drop my kid off at school...5 days a week. Now you know how I rack up the miles. Anywho, I'm not sure about the mirrors. I ordered covers from Japan and realized they will not fit the '99 shape. I bought new ones from the dealer. ASK the dealer if the mirrors are a complete assembly, I think they will be so you won't have to buy it separately. The tail light trim will ONLY fit the new stock tails. It's 3m tape, and has 2 horizontal strips to match the tails. This could be a complicated order...go to the dealer and verify all parts at the counter. Good luck.
