Better not bright light me!

Spent all day building some custom brackets with my dad today to mount 4 Hella 500's on my Yakima Loadwarrior. It turned out really well I think. Didn't have time to wire them up yet but curious see how bright they will be. We Fabbed the brackets up out of 6061 Aluminum. Took alot of measuring and tweaking but I think it turned out well. Here's some pics.

I'm planning on painting everything black tomorrow. Ran out of daylight today to mess with it anymore.

Joey, a bit late, but welcome back! Hella clean looking install (couldn't resist). You could fool the tower operators into thinking a KC-135 is approaching! I hope the alternator is up to it. Looking forward to some night shots.

Lookin' good Joey.

The custom brackets are the way to go, since the Yakima brackets I use you can only squeeze two of them up there.

Looks great, man.

However, it'll be kinda hard to climb out the window while steering with your foot to remove the covers to blind the guy who won't dim his brights, won't it?

Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies guys! I have to do some electrical work before I get these wired up so as of now they are no "All Show and No Go" but I'll post some pics when I get them wired. Right now my dilemma is I have so many accessories that there's no where left to put the hot wires. (Amp, Flexalite,4 sets of lights, alarm, ect...) My plan is to get an optima with the extra post and go from there. I would like to do something like Corey did with an auxillary fuse box but since I plan to ditch this whole set up within the next year for a 3.4 swap I don't want to waste a whole lot of effort and time rewiring everything. Big Thanks goes out to my dad on this project as he was out there all day designing and fabbing and he just had knee surgery 2 weeks ago! Something about building stuff you just can't keep him away!

I used to have a dozen 150watt KC Daylighters on mine (4.6 million candlepower). I used to flash high-beamers with them until I did it once to a cop. $400 later (in '85) and I cured that problem. Be carefull who you flash.

I hear ya. $86 fine for me even though the Police cars low beams were burnt out and thats the only way he could see was by running his high beams. I really wanted to comment on his decision/idiocy but cooler heads prevailed (wife gave me the evil eye when she saw the wheel turning in my head after his statement) and the ticket was only $86 and not a misdemeanor.

I flash my amber fog lights and only hit my brights if they don't get the hint. I used to have five 6x9 KC's on my rollbar with 150 watt bulbs each (until a theft attempt totally wrecked the lightbar and now I just run 2 until I fab something new) along with my two 6" Procomps on my prerunner bar 130watts each, with my 55 watt amber Ions, and my PIAA Super Plasma GT-X H4's I always bring a little sunshine with me every where I go.

I'll bright light ya... so what are ya going to do about it?!??!!!

haha... just kidding. The rig and the lights look great. I just love the look of 4 lights across the top of a rig.

As for powering them... here's what I did. The lights in the bumper are wired differently, so don't think about those right now. I had to find a good way to wire 3 sets (6 lights) of lights on my rack, plus a power inverter and an amp. I ran a heavy duty 0 gauge wire from my optima all the way to the back of my truck. I then wired up a distribution block and 5 relays. All the wiring is centered in part of my cargo box I keep in the back of my rig. Neat, clean install. Easy to maintain. I installed a circuit breaker under my hood so I don't have to deal with 50 different fuses.

Jackson thanks for the info. I want to do some sort of distribution block as well. It's the only way to have a clean and safe set up. I've seen some trucks with some nasty rat nests of wires and all I can think of is a nice little electrical fire. I'm not looking forward to finding a place to mount 2 more relays and run all the wires but I'll get it done. Thank god for zip ties and wire looming. How do you like them Euro Beams? Them are some pretty serious lights!!

Thanks everyone for all the compliments. I drove today with the rack back on and there's a little bit more windnoise but not too bad. I also drove yesterday with just the crossbars on and I couldn't believe how much noise them made. Must be the way the air goes around the bars but it was at least twice as loud as having the rack up there with the Yakima fairing.

I also got some rubbernecking while running around town today...dang I love that..haha
