battery question

ok i have an 84 toyota pickup and replaced the battery awhile ago. started to notice that it just slides around in the corner where it sits it has the plastic plate under it that u are suppose to use but other then that there is nothing else for it i have looked at alot of the universal ones that have a rubber thing that goes over and then has two bolts but i dont have holes to put the bolts in. can anyone suggest another way to secure it or should i go to a junk yard and see if they have the part that i need that use to be there if there ever was a bracket that kept it in place i need help..... i need to fix this soon as the battery almost slid off the edge and into the side of the motor and i dont want to know what happens if it hits.

if you can't find it at a junk yard build one sliding around can damage the battery you don't want it to hit

I first took a different read on your issue. Yes, get a hold down right away. BUT, does it slide around IN the plastic tray? If so, you have the wrong battery - the right battery fits the tray perfectly. Just a thot.

OEM battery tray has "bumps" on the bottom of it that fit into holes in the fender body panel there. The tray shouldn't slide period. I had to get a spacer to put under my red optima to make it taller so the OEM mounting bracket would work. Now everything is great!

Don't use bungee cords as they aren't permitted on the trails at most places because they are dangerous and stupid for holding down a potential lead/acid grenade.

Good luck.

Won't leak, true, but raises hell when it slides over into the motor. GEt a proper hold down clamp on it soon as you can.

Keep in mind if your battery is at least 500amps it is more than enough to "weld" with. Be sure to fasten it down someway, right away. Even if it's temporary until you get the funds.

thanx guys had some extra money this weekend so i went to the junkyard and picked up the holder fits nice and now no more battery sliding around had to take it off a wrecked 4runner all the ones on the pickups were gone but considering its the same as the truck one it doesnt matter. it only cost me 10 dollars including other stuff that we grabbed. now heres another question it was rusted really good but i cleaned it up and put a rust inhibitor on it but i need to paint it now i need to find a good spray paint that wont chip easy and last long any one now of one that i can use...

get a good metal primer on it first then rustoleum or krylon or similar and you are good to go.
