Bad Injector
So i keep getting a Cylinder2 misfire, and after replacing the cap, rotor, plugs, and plug wires im pretty much down to a bad injector. Im going to pull the Injector and clean it tomorow, but if the problem persists and i need to replace it, should i just replace them all, or is that unnecisary?
Also, anyone have any thoughts on something besides an injector? ive already put $125 in this problem with no result, dumping more in without result is doesnt sound like a good idea. And i know, "take it to a mechanic" but im not paying $80 to hook it up to a machine that will tell them to charge me $300 to repair a small problem.

You need to take it to someone who can tell you what is wrong. Throwing money and parts at it hoping it will fix it is not the solution. You will be time and money ahead

my neighbors are all halfway honda mechanics, injector was their top choice, but they dont have the equipment to make a proper diagnosis. I guess i have to face facts that my car might actually have a....a... problem

Did you replace the coils? Im pretty sure you dont have a cap and rotor style system. What spark plugs did you get? Injectors rarely go bad.
And your neighbors being honda mechanics... those are hondas they have problems toyotas are different.

How is the compression/leakdown on that cylinder? What does the plug look like? Can you introduce carb cleaner in a vacuum hose with the engine running, does it smooth out?
You only need to replace that one injector and fuel rail washers(line-rail),If it went bad,It didn't do so by being clogged, you would have all/or most go bad if that was the case.Actually your fuel pump would go before the injectors would clog.
If it is a bad injector it probably its probably wet electrically bad.

being as i replaced the cap and rotor myself, i am pretty sure my motor uses that system... Im not completley incompitent when it comes to cars, but my knowledge isnt that great. I might take it to a friend who is a UPS mechanic, and i will have him check coils also.

A white looking plug compared to the others is a sign of a lean injector. I had one die on me in a 22RE engine. It had about 250K miles. I changed them all and my power came back and the plugs started looking normal. You can send them to Dr. Injector in Washington State or some other tester/fixer. New gaskets is mandatory and each injector has several. See the dealer for the new seals.
Other problem could be compression. If that is the case, check valve adjustments first. Most ohv engines suffer from valve retraction into the head as the valves get beaten into the seats over time.
My $0.02

Hi. i just got the same problem fixed on my 2000. one of the exhaust valves on the #1 cylinder was burnt from the previous owner never replacing the valve shims.
anyway, i would recommend doing the compression test and seeing whats up, if it comes back at zero like mine did, have your mechanic pull off the valve cover and replace the shims. if that doesn't do it, have them remove the head and do the valve and hope the valve seat isn't completely f***ed
hope this helps
