ARB air locker install

I just got done ordering my ARB air locker and compressor and I want to solicit all your inputs to make the install as painless as possible. Pretty much, I will be unbolting the 3rd member and taking it to 4wheel parts store here in Jacksonville, FL and have them install the locker. Questions that I have are the following:

1. Do I have to replace the carrier bearings?
2. Do I need to replace the axle seals after pulling the axles out for the removal of the 3rd member?
3. What type of gasket sealant do I have to use for reinstallation of the 3rd?
4. Any torque specs for the axle and 3rd member bolts?
5. Any other "secrets" to make the reinstallation of the 3rd memberand axles a breeze?
6. Are the carrier bearings the same for the 89-95 V6 and 96-02 4runners?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

George

1. Do I have to replace the carrier bearings?

probably not, your truck is only a couple years old, those should last alot longer than that

2. Do I need to replace the axle seals after pulling the axles out for the removal of the 3rd member?

not if you are careful, just pull the shafts straight out and the seals will be fine

3. What type of gasket sealant do I have to use for reinstallation of the 3rd?

RTV - room temp vulcanizing rubber, comes in a tube from any auto store, run a small bead around the 3rd and re-install

4. Any torque specs for the axle and 3rd member bolts?

not really sure, ive never used a torque wrentch any of the times ive replaced 3rds, just get the nuts on there good and tight and you'll be fine. torque specs are only usefull when really small or really high torque levels are needed

5. Any other "secrets" to make the reinstallation of the 3rd memberand axles a breeze?

3rds are heavy mofos, if you can get a buddy to help remove it and lift it back in place that will help alot

6. Are the carrier bearings the same for the 89-95 V6 and 96-02 4runners?

no idea

my 0.02, its not extremely difficult, good luck

If it's not a secret, how much did the shop charge you to install the locker?

What did you spend total on everything?

ARB locker and compressor - $840 shipped plus $195 for the install.

NCSU - Thanks for all the inputs.

No, I will not. I'm keeping the stock 4.10. This mod is not done yet. I'm still waiting for the locker and compressor.
