Anybody ever tried to put subs in the back cubbies?

The subwoofer speaker is Audiobahn Immortal Series, which is 8". Unfortunately I couldn't fit anything bigger than 8" in that compartment without sacrificing the trunk space and destroying the factory look.

My amplifier is Rockford Fosgate 400 Amps Mono, and it provides more than enough power for the 8" speaker. I also have fan mounted right below the amp to prevent overheating. The fan is powered off the remote wire, so as soon as I turn on the sub, the fan turns on as well.

As far as volume, I currently have it set at about medium level. With that custom box it sounds suprisingly good and better than many of 12" subs that I've heard in other cars. I did have to make the box completely sealed and put some Dynamat back there.

Most of the time I keep the cover closed to prevent all my stuff in the rear hitting the speaker. Sub simply doesn't sound as loud as with cover open, but by turning up the volume on the sub from my deck I compensate pretty easily for the luck of volume. Thankfully my deck has separate volume controls for speakers and for subs.

I hope this all makes sense

Sweet! Good job! Now you can start making them for the rest of us for no profit, right? Just kidding of course! Nice setup though.

Nice clean install Andrey. I plan to do a similar setup in my 2nd gen - stealth and factory like that. IMO, those are the best systems, cause it's like a hidden surprise - not a big box taking up the whole cargo area <- not that there's anything wrong with that - been there done that.

yeah well i just realized tonight that the second gen's cargo area is deeper than the 3 gen's. odd huh. and i just aquired $200 today so i'll buy my subs some time this week most likely. so i guess i'll be the first person to try to put 10's back there as a stealth install. i'll take plenty of pics and post them for ya with all the little tricks and what not. wish me luck!!!

   well i went to make the boxes today for the stealth instal. it can't be done. at least with my 2 10" mtx subs. the body panels are too deep and i really don't feel like cutting stuff because im pretty sure i'd mess it up and have to go find and buy new panels. and that would take time and money. so i think im going to just make a big cargo box like some of the other people have made on here and just intigratet some sub boxes in them for the 10's. oh well. :pat:
