I would recommend using TWO sets of spring compressors for safety...some shops wont even touch the toyota coils....

And I have heard of compressors snapping when using only one set.... just FYI

 

how about some bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable, so if you want to lift later its pretty easy.

Toytec, All-Pro, and Sonoran Steel use Bilstiens for thier adjustable $700~ coil overs. Hmm? Check out the specs on them compared to other shocks.
They've been recommended time and time again for MANY years both here and ttora.

You mentioned getting 100k+ out of your old ones. Nice! Thats a long time for any shock and that alone is enough reason why ya can't go wrong with a pair of Billies. Replace them and ride another happy 100k miles.

 

I don't assume people's level of mechanical prowess and just give the basic advice,if they are fairly handy they would figure they can do it themselves with a little research or good friends.

Coils don't have to sag to be worn out and I prefer to replace associated parts with new and new instead of waiting for the older part to tire or fail.

 

TRD Toyota Blue Tokicos

 

Tokico Trekmasters....is what I use. Not to advertise. But IMHO, there are many who've put in a good word for not only Tokico, but OME, Bilstein, and Rancho. As long as your shocks are beat, any of those brands should be a decent improvement to say the least. KYB and Monroe are other options to on the low-price end, but I've rarely come across posts here in yotatech that support them. Eidelbrock is another one, but didn't research much because they don't make shocks for 3rd gens.
The search function on this gathering of Toyota lovers is pretty helpful if you type the right words. Type the brand names by themselves, ask or PM those knowledgeable, do some price-comparison on the various online auto retailers. I've found that even at a discount, stock shock replacements cost as much as Tokico.
But it all depends on how much on/off-roading you do. More than likely a brand can be darn good for only one type, not both. Other brands are more in-between. So it's your call, really.
