Any deckplate modders get water in airbox?

I fashioned a psudo deckplate/elbow removal thang on my T100 and was wondering if a the minimal amount (traces) of water that can get in the air box (before the filter)from driving in rain and snow was an issue. Again, no standing water, but enough to fill up a couple Q-tips.
thanks for input.

I have hit a couple huge puddles and mud bogs when I had the deckplate open. Yes, I did see droplets of water inside the opening (before the filter but not after). I would chalk it up to my own laziness as I should have just put the plate in. Other than that, nothing.

Ditto to the other comments. I'll even add that I've forgotten to put the deckplate in and headed out to run through mud and puddles. No probs. (fingers crossed)

Here in Southwest BC we get a lot of rain, and at times when you drive on the highway next to large trucks, the air is just saturated with water. That's what the 4runner is breathing and it won't bother it. A little water at the bottom of your airbox is nothing to worry about imo, as long as it doesn't gulp in water. I never actually cover my deckplate, but carry the lid in my rear storage box.

Besides, if you guys are running with the J-tube in place, any (6oz or so) water inhalation that gets past the filter will go into this tube - I think. Isn't that why it's there?

Of course, I ripped mine out long ago with the ISR mod.

I wonder if the velocity of incoming air would take water past the J-tube? Hey Mark, wanna do a little experiment for us?

I leave mine open year round, snow, rain, etc...
Not a single problem from it.
