Antenna stuck ( bent )

A carwash bent my antenna. I have sirius, so I just pounded it down, and left it. Now when the truck starts and stops, the motor for the antenna runs (grinds) for a few seconds. It is getting louder.

I would rather it just stay down than to do any work to it, is an easy way to get that sucker to stay down? A wire to cut?

Yes, the motor for the unit is on the inside of the engine compartment on the upper left hand passenger side. I don't remember the exact wire to cut...but you should be able to trace the wire coming from the mast.

I didn't search for this because I didn't realize that it was so common. I don't really want the whip antenna, because I like the look of none at all. I think I will just get a new mast, it will always be down anyway.

There is no reason to dig into the motor - the tooth strap didn't break so all you need to do is get a new mast off the web for $35 and replace it. All it takes is to undo the ring nut at the base of the antennae and pull it out and feed the new one in. Nothing to it.

I found them on ebay, but I was going to check the dealer first. I am always willing to pay a few extra dollars so I don't have to deal with shipping hassles.

I paid right around $50 from the dealership a year ago when I had to replace mine.

Yeah we replace them all the time on Toyota's at the car wash i work at, we get a discount through the local dealership and i think there around $45, and real easy to put in, takes about a minute.
