I totally agree with what has been said... it can be very frustrating. I did mine over Christmas break a little over a year ago so I didn't have anything going on. My advice to you would be to not rush anything. Be patient and don't cut corners. The hardest part / most important part is the measuring/mounting the projector so that the cutoff is completely horizontal. I would suggest looking into JnC's mounting method over on the HIDPlanet forums. Silicone works well to attach the bezel. Oh and don't use the 96-98 style headlights with the "frosted lenses." It will totally distort the cutoff. The frosted lenses focus the light from the reflector, whereas with the clear lenses (99+) the reflector actually focuses the beam. Since the projector will be doing all the focusing / "projecting" itself, you want the headlight lense to be as clear as possible. I've actually found that the aftermarket lenses (I have Eagle Eye ones) don't distort the cutoff as much as the OEM clear lenses do.

Here is the link to his thread... JnC is a pretty big member over there and has done lots of retros. He came up with his own method of mounting projectors that actually allows for rotational adjustment AFTER everything is all closed up. This thread just talks about that mounting method:

JnC's Mounting Method (with Rotational Adj Capability)

you could scavenge the forums..i recommend hidplanet. become a member to buy, and ensure you're buying legit stuff, and read up in the meantime to educate yourself and see your options as far as wattage, single/bixenon, projectors, etc go.

you could buy from "theretrofitsource.com" - he's got a ty rap on hidplanet, but i've dealt with him numerous times without hitch and he seems like a good guy to me.

prices fluctuate with demand/supply, so know what you're paying. the fx's were cheap a year ago after a fx recall, but now they're up there again. i've seen TL's going for 160 shipped...so know your prices.

imo - join hidplanet and read till your eyes bleed...then do your retro

just a note, that if you do any offroading, you can set up your projectors using the rotational method, but fiberglass/jbweld everything afterwards to make sure it doesn't move later. imo, if you measure twice and drill once, you can get the projector pretty level, then just make the holes a little bigger and use washers, and you can rotate the projectors that way also.

There was a member here about a year ago selling HID kits and putting together group buys as well. He has not been active recently though that I have seen. Do a search for "HID group buy" and his link may pop up... several members did buy his products reviews generally seemed positive...

I've since cleaned up my Photobucket acct and deleted some unneeded photos, but the photos on this pg (or any other thread for that matter) will not be viewable until 10/28. See the email PB sent me last week below:

You have exceeded the 10 GB monthly bandwidth limit on your free
Photobucket account. As such, your image and video links have been
temporarily disabled. Your images and videos have not been deleted but
will be reactivated on the 28th of the month, when your bandwidth
usage resets to zero.

I had no idea this could happen, otherwise, I would have done something about it much sooner. Check back on the 28th.

Nice project. I was thinking about projectors for my wife's 2001 4Runner.
Having a big problem with a free time for such a project and assuming that it takes allot of time, this can be "unfinished" project for me...Unless someone will make a retrofit for me...???
