Yes, and yes.

I think Magnaflows are usually close to $100 at a regular muffler shop. Not sure about the 4 x 9 versus the 5 x 8. Either should work. The 5 x8 is about 10% larger in cross-sectional area, so it would ba a tad quieter (~10% more room for insulation). Either will fit just fine underneath the truck...

Factory pipe should still be 2.25, unless you have an anomoly like Bob mentioned earlier.

just to update on this, I just ordered my muffler. I was talking to the guy and he said aluminized steel rusts pretty easily, so I paid an extra 19 bucks and went with the stainless steel version for 99 bucks shipped. I'm so frustrated this morning, they needed me to call my bank and have them change my shipping address in order for me to order from them. So after a mornings worth of frustration and calling. I finally ordered it. Went with the 4x9, 18" body center/offset stainless steel. I should get it by the end of the week next week. I don't know why but I kinda regret getting it now. I dunno, it's just how I always am directly after I order things. So I'm loooking to you guys to tell me I got myself a good muffler

Anywho that's what happened. And now I wait........for them to check the address and then wait.......for them to ship it out and then wait......for it to get here and then wait........to find a good cheap place for install.......

Thanks to everybody for all their help though. Really made a difference in what I just bought.

Magnaflow Universal. Tom has it, and there's a sound clip of his in the exhaust page.

Now I'm worried if it's going to be a problem welding stainless steel to my original pipes. Please say no!!

Don't know for sure, but I'd say probably not! People get Stainless steel mufflers and cats all the time and weld them to their stock pipes.

Hey man, don't worry about your purchase. I get like that sometimes, but it all goes away when it's installed, and the result is great!

If you are broke like me it's best to stay away from here! I've spent so much money, it's not even funny! It's disgusting, really! But, I love it so much, and I just wish I could do it for a living.

well that's why I'm not too worried about spending 99 bucks on a muffler, because my co-op job is paying me pretty well. Which is why it'd modding time this fall But yea, it's the little voice inside you saying (you don't need this) or (it won't work, something will go wrong) That's the crap that scares me

This thread came along at the perfect time. I'm looking to get a new free flow muff myself sometime soon and have learned alot and gotten a bunch of things decided from reading this thread. One of the most informative threads I've read about exhaust because mostly every little thing was answered here. Thanks toyo for starting the thread and thanks to everyone that replied. Oh and keep us updated on the progress of your new exhaust.
