Easy as pie to get on. I just wish i had realized I neede new washers before I started. Thats why do it with friends right!? The hardest part was getting the TJM off and putting it back on. Another happy RB customer! I'm going to try that TJM gap mod TSTango did, but that will have to wait til after finals and thanksgiving. I love the way it looks, it actually looks lifted again. Now its time for some 33" Destination MTs! I kind-of like the way it makes the 285s look like my 265s when I did my first suspension lift. I also like the way I actually have to get UP into my rig... thats definately a first for me

Looks good. Why did you have to take the TJM off? I popped my hood, removed my grill, and had easy access to the front body mount bolts w/o removing my ARB. That would have sucked. Since I didn't have to remove it, I put my BL on in about 2.5 hours.

Had to take it off b/c I didn't have access to the bottom bolt. The TJM covers the bottom bolts on the front body mounts. Whats the status of the wheel cover? Will I have it before wed next week? I'm just asking b/c I'm going home for a little while.

Yeah, I'm going to get them moved up b/c I still want them strengthened. I'm not going to move them up much, maybe an inch b/c the babes aready complained before I did the body lift. They do look a little low, but at that angle you can't really tell. I took the rack off b/c I drive at hiway speed every day and I need to save as much gas a possible... hehe... I'm putting it back on to drive home so I'll take some pics when it goes back on. I also will have new lights up there... which reminds me!! poop, I need to send zman that wiring harness... thanks for reminding me! I might try and ask mike if he'd be willing to have a wrench day up in asheville one day. I don't know what kind of garage space he has but, I think that would be cool. I also want to do OBA over the break too so the next time I decide to bust a CV it actually will be a 20min job, not a 4hr job

Its only $130, I went ahead and paid the extra for the stronger bolts though b/c someone told me a story about a taco with a "custom" 3" bodylift and he got into a wreck. I guess he hit a low wall or a really small car or something and the body just kept on going while the chassy stayed...

I went ahead and did a 2" with HD bolts...

 

so what did you have to do? spacer at the end of the steering column, are there problems with radiator/fan alignment etc etc? do you have to extend engine ground straps or anything? I have a 1997 4 Runner SR5 and am looking into lift kits now

nope...

its that easy. Big help if you have 2 ppl though so you can have one loosening bolts while the other takes the interior apart and puts it back together. Contact Roger Brown at 4crawler.com hes a fellow YT member and is super nice guy. You can call and ask questions durring install etc. Detailed directions also with pictures, he also has a ton of info on his site about bodylifts etc.

 

10 bolts + 2 on the steering extension for the 1". 2" lifts require some trimming of the fan shroud and possibly some readjustment of the auto shifter stick. You can also get a 2" extension for the transfer case shifter from Roger Brown as well. If you have an OEM bumper, then you'll need to remove the 8 bolts holding your front bumper on and install his bumper brackets, then re-install your OEM bumper.

2.5 hours from start to finish. Loosen all the body mount nuts on one side and remove the nuts on the other side. Remove the nuts and bolts from the steering joint. Jack the one side of the body up using a shop jack (without nuts), pull the bolts, place the spacers on the body mount brackets, replace the longer bolts and loosly put the nuts on. Go to the other side and repeat. Place the steering spacer in the steering joint and install using the longer bolts supplied. (Possibly trim fan shroud w/a boxcutter if you do a 2" lift along w/ adjusting the auto shifter). Tighten all nuts and you're ready to go.

 

No trimming on my 98... No change in automatic stick... transfercase stick is low, and needs a little asjustment, but thats just a bolt...

 

my body lift was 2-2.5 hours tops.... rogers kit is great! fast and easy....

You should get the supercharger while you can because I predict with the advent of the 4.0 V6, there will be no more 3.4l superchargers made before too long.
