annoying vibration

ok, im the kind of driver that is in tune with his vehicle. i know how the car is supposed to sound and feel at idle and in motion. i hear any new noise right away.

given this fact, lately (without any specific scenario -- time of day, speed, duration of driving doesnt seem to effect it) at idle the vibration of the engine idling can be felt in my lower back in such a way that it feels a little... rough. i know i have a truck and it vibrates, but never like this.

it doesnt make any weird noises or anything and all seems well besides, but its just uncomfortable and i find myself switching to N just to change up the engine rev a bit.

again, though, it is not an all the time occurance.. i'd say its like 20% of the time.

any ideas?? thanks!

When was the last time you had a tune up? It might be just slightly running rough because the plugs, filters, etc. are getting closer to needing to be replaced.

I've used seafoam but didnt notice much difference. I think it worked better on my lawn mower and trimmer. my 4runner at 57k does the same thing and you're right, this is a truck, no Lexus =)

yea, im at 59,600 and have noticed it since about 58K.

im not worried about it, the truck runs so great, and feels/sounds ok.

lets see what those new spark plugs get me. i assume youre taking your 01 in for the 60K service soon too, ray?

one thing to keep in mind, the dealer is going to tell you that you need to get your timing belt changed, or at least mine tried to at 60k. Ours don't need changing until 90 or 100k.

thanks for the heads up, but i was well aware of that trick. i hate dealerships and would always say 'no thanks for now' and come check with you all anyway.

speaking of belts, one of mine is squealing on morning startups... ive been using belt dressing to shut it up for now, but is it a better idea to yank it out before winter hits?

also, its not every morning, it actually will stop for like 2 to 3 weeks in between sprays of belt dressing.

it's probably just loose. but if they are the original belts, with 60k on them, it's probably time to change them anyway.
