Question Amsoil air filter

How much is the Amsoil air filter? What is the difference between it and a K&N? I have a K&N right now, so I'm just wondering.

I would go with an Amsoil™ air filter. I'm running one in my 4Runner and it's great. It's about $30.

A recent post taken from Gadget on the outdoorwire board, "Back in the day, like 30 years ago K&N was the hot ticket and it was the cutting edge of filtering technology, but now times have changed and technology has greatly improved the state of the art in filtration. K&N has failed to keep up and have been surving on their sticker fame.

In every standardized filtration test AMSOIL just flat out spanks K&N and everything else out there. It is the cutting edge of todays filtering technology.

Place a K&N next to an AMSOIL filter and just look at them for yourself. There shouldn't be any doubt in your mind which of the two is going to be better at filtering dust out of the air.

Here is my take on the whole thing. It is your truck, you use what you want. There is nothing wrong with the stock filter. Just don't say that the K&N filters better then an AMSOIL filter, because it does not and never will."

When I got mine last month it did come with the sticker..after installing it, I felt extra power during takeoff
Seriously, I like the Amsoil filter than the K&N that I had. You can tell the difference at WOT.

Amsoil doesn't include us 3.0 engine guy's
I talked with them, and they can't shape one correctly I was told.

Don't know why if K&N can.

My main problem with k&n was when I wanted to buy one for my mustang, they wanted a butt load of money for the filter. Well the other day I checked amsoil and its somewhere around 25-30$ for my truck and the k&n was I think 49$ at autozone. I'm going with the cheaper of the two mainly because of the good comments I've seen on the forum, the cheaper price is just an additional bonus.

I cleaned mine after 1 years useage. Didn't really need it, just did it to be safe in case it was getting dry. I only had 6k miles on the filter. I used about 2 ounces but blotted it very well..via the Gadget method (filter btween paper towels and stand on it).

PS: the Amsoil does come w/ a sticker...

I have a K&N now and I would hate to throw it out. I think I paid about $60 for the stupid thing. How bad could it be? Am I risking damage to my supercharger?

I'm with you on this, but their product is top notch. I've got a friend who avoided Amsoil because of this very reason. He finally broke down and tried it - now he's hooked! Heh-heh.

I run the air filter, but I also have a K&N. I switch the out depending on which one is in the cleaning cycle. I feel much better with the Amsoil in.

I will also be switching to Amsoil syn oil on my next change. I currently run Red Line, but everything I hear tells me Amsoil is the way to go. I gotta try it!
