I have a bit of a dilema I want to ship my 02 front Bumper up to dexter in Denver.

Due to limited time during the week I've been unable to come up with a solution. The Mom and Pop shipping place I usually use doesn't want to deal with something that large. Also, I can't find a box big enough to put the bumper in. I 'm considering sliding several smaller boxes over the bumper to cover it and tape them together.

I've also been told that UPS and FedEx won't ship anything this large.

Any Suggestions.....????

 

When I sold my running boards I had to ship them from here in Illinois to Florida. I ended up cutting up a few boxes, taping them together, and sort of "wrapping" them with cardboard with some foam inside too. One running board to a box and one box for hardware. It worked fine and UPS had no problems taking them. They did charge me for "oversize" packages tho. It ended up costing about $60...

 

Try to get a box from a 4x4 store that sells after market bumpers. Do anything you can to make the box smaller than the UPS max size, other wise you will have to pay big bucks to ship by freight. I shipped my old front bumper and valance with UPS ground by taking it all apart for shipping and cutting the box down to the max allowed. If I remember right it was 73 inch long by 15 inches and 13 inches. The lenght+2times the height+2times the width must be less than or equal to 130. If the box is too big cut a strip out of the middle of the box and slip it into itself and tape the heck out of it.

 

Greyhound - the bus line - will ship stuff. Go to http://www.greyhound.com/ then click Ship With Greyhound.

Prices aren't too bad. I think you have to drop it off at a terminal, and then the receiver also picks it up at their terminal.

 

Also try Forward Air for large items.

Call Fed-Ex and UPS. I know that they ship at least 100lbs, i think 150, but not positive.

 

It is the size that is the problem, not the weight.

 

Bus is a good idea.

You might also try your local airport. Many airlines also do freight. Also, sometimes there are small freight carriers (most of who you've never heard of) located, at least at our airport, in the area just outside the main terminal. I've shipped misc. stuff thru them before for way cheaper than UPS, etc.

The recipient will have to go to the airport to get the package but it should save some money.
