Adjusting the rear brakes
Alright, I just rec'd my new Brembo rotors in the mail yesterday and new pads for the front. These are replacing my annoying warped rotors this weekend. I read somewhere on this sight that my rear brakes are probably not working that hard at all when I brake. My nose does go down when I hit the pedal, which makes me believe my fronts are doing all the work. So I ask how do I adjust the rears this weekend so that my brakes will all work together. Are there any write ups on this or pictures of where to adjust. Thanks.

As long as your adjusters are working properly you can adjust the rears by backing up slowly (< 5 mph) and pulling up on the ebrake. You need to do this several times until the brakes feel properly adjusted.

Acording to the Haynes manual
"Back the vehicle up,making repeted stops, to actuate the self-adjusters, which work only when the vehicle is in reverse."
It doesn't say weather you use the parking brakes or the regular (service) brakes.

"On Tacoma models it should take 12 to 18 clicks to apply the parking system: on 4runners, the parking brake lever should apply the parking brake cables with 7 to 9 clicks."
One may assume, (if you have never adjusted/or had the parking brake cable adjusted), that if you have the appropiate amount of clicks then the rear brakes are probably close to set.

Adjusting the brakes like this is effective, but sometimes after installing a new set of shoes or springs in the rear, you may have to turn the star adjusting wheel with a brake spoon. This is only after new hardware install, in scenarios that the brakes are so far out of adjustment, they do not catch properly to self adjust. This will usually be accompanied by slack in the parking brake.
