Added 1/2" more of Diff Drop...CVs WORSE?
Yeah, so I got some 2" washers today, 1/2x9" bolts and added approx. 1/2" more of a diff drop to my current 1" RB drop.
For some reason the outer CV boots look the same, maybe worse. The inner ones look worse for sure.
I think by dropping it down further, it pushed the diff forward, and now looks weird.
Is this a known problem with adding more diff. drop or what?
I'll have pictures up soon.

also the cv's will come closer to the lower arm when flexing and the front driveshaft is at a greater angle at the companion flange on the front diff. It's actually not good to lower the diff unless you can lower it evenly. basically what you're doing is only lowering the front of it.
Just get a manual hub kit from ORS and you won't have to drop it any.

Billy say, screw the diff drop. I understand where you are coming from, but the results rendered from it are not worth the time or effort with just 3" of lift. I am at over 4" on my 4th gen, and though I know I am definitely pushing the limit, I could probably add another 3/4" or so and get away with it. This is all without a diff drop.
Just keep an eye on your boots, listen to your cv axles, and keep everything lubed up. You'll be fine. I just dont like the idea of sacrificing front end ground clearance, but to each his own. Good luck, dont stress over the issue.

Thanks guys... You make me feel a little better
Keisur, what is ORS? I am interested in a manual hub kit. Do I have to have one made for the 3rd gen or can I use earlier models?
