97 4Runner front strut replacement troubles

I have a 97 2wd 4Runner, I have decided to take on the challenge of replacing the suspension in all 4 corners. Truck has 208k on it and I believe everything is still factory.
I purchased Bilstein 4600 and Duralast coils from AutoZone and started work this afternoon. The issue I've run into is the new strut assembly seems a bit longer then the old and I've had to remove the tie rod to allow the lower arm to drop more. I've been able to get the bottom of the strut into the bolt cradle but can't get the bottom bolt in place even using a pry bar to get the lower arm as far down a possible.
The Duralast coils also seem very hefty compared to the factory coils. Should I keep the factory coils?

Double check, make sure they gave you parts for a 2wd?

Take your stock pickle jack and wedge it between the control arm and the frame and jack it into place. It will allow you to get the bolt in place.

Your ride height will be increased so Im assuming you bought new rear replacment springs as well.

Oh and before you drive any distance have it realigned.

My total toe was 1.59 from the increased ride height. Factory spec is .20 to .40. until realignment.

I just did this to my 2001 except I used monroe quick struts up front. (they come pre assembled springs and all)

Moog rear coil springs and monroe sensa track shocks. Man I love how it rides now and its a good 1.5 inches higher than it was.

Talking

Hello OCman40,

Have you had to re-align your truck again since your last post due to it settling? Also, how is that set-up holding up? I just installed new Energy suspension swaybar bushings, and ordered the same thing you got with the Moogs, the quick struts, and the sensa tracks. any unusual wear on the tires?

Thanks

Is the bottle jack the best bet for a 4wd also? Problem I'm having is the axle is in the way!

I've had to use my bottle jack both times I installed the shocks. Makes it much easier. I've heard that it also helps to disconnect one end of the front sway bar.
