96 4Runner SR5

Alright guys....need some advice here.....I'm looking at getting into a 96 SR5 4Runner....3.4V6 5spd 117k.....beautiful shape......Now what I need advice on is this......anyone know what kinds of suspension kits and stuff I can get? Or is that year pretty limited? I live in Maine and anyone who knows the laws in Maine state that I can't mess with the suspension....but screw them...I'm going to mess with it...just not that much...lol....anyway....Does this year have any major bugs to watch out for? Problems? Tips? Tricks? Suggestions? Should I not get it? I love to trail riding and want to beef it up some so I want to know if anyone has any idea about limitations.....Thanks guys...

From what I understand there were problems with the head gaskets, a rear suspension recall and a TSB on the fuel gage. There are many lifts out there for 3rd gen 4Runners, try searching.

I think you should check out the only the HG.'

The rear suspension only affected 98's.

And the fuel guage were 99-00.

No, the suspension was 96-98....mine had to be done, but I switched it out later for OME stuff.

Great choice, just check for the head gasket recall. I have a '99 3.4 4x4 5spd. There are lots of suspension options-if Maine says no, then do a bodylift. There are some pics on my webshots page:
