'95 4runner moans and makes noise when steering is turned at low speed

I have 1995 SR5 4runner 5spd and recently I've been noticing a moaning and a kind of whinnying sound whenever I turn the wheel at low speeds. It used to do it in the winter for about 10 minutes and then it would go away but no it does it pretty much all the time. It's getting really loud and annoying and I want to get it fixed. Any ideas?

Always grateful for the help,

Sadiq

Power steering pump is going on you.

First check the fluid. You can check it with the engine running.

Umm, steering pump, I'll check the fluid and see where its at. If the pump is bad and has to be changed any rough idea how much it would cost including labor?

Thanks
Sadiq

I would just go to Napa and get a rebuilt one. After I returned my old core, it was like $100-120 bucks.

my truck something like this after i went out rompin one day. Turned out my power steering belt had come WAY loose. Tightened it up and life was good. Total cost = free = good
Dont know if this is your problem, but i would check it before i went out and bought a new pump.

which engine do you have?

thanks for the help everyone.
yeah definetly would want to check the belt first since its cheaper, but if i had to get a new pump then the rebuilt one sounds like a good plan.
