'94 4-Runner Lifespan?

'94 4-Runner Lifespan?
I just started looking into buying a 4-Runner. I found a '94 4x4 for what I think is a decent price.
What I was curious is.. What is the lifespan on the differen't parts?
Motor, Transmission, Transfer Case, Axles.. etc?
The truck has 180k miles on it and they are asking $5,500 for it. It's also suposed to be in GREAT condition... Good deal if everything is truly good?

It might be worth it. The first thing I would do to greatly extend the life of a 3.0L (if it is one) would be to get headers to bypass the awful crossover that comes stock. This isn't so much for performance (though it can be) but to save that #6 exhaust valve from burning out. That is the only reason I have had to do a rebuild. Everything else has been very solid. I am approaching 200K within the next couple months and plan on adding another 100K at least. I have had no problems with my auto tranny or transfer case. The CV's on the front axles go out now and then, but I have had more of a problem with the boots breaking. Mainly because I had the torsion bars raise up the front a bit. Some manual locking hubs will help you avoid that problem, you just have to remember to lock them any time you want "shift on the fly" again.

Sounds a little high for here, too. There's a '95 w/ 110K in our paper, supposedly excellent condition, asking $5000. Make sure you have a mechanic you trust go over it before you buy. Good luck.

its about average for this area.. $5500 USD = $6600 CAD.. average price here for a 94 is around $6-7000 CAD, got my 91 w/180k last summer for $3700, or $3000 USD, it was above average shape.. not mint, but close.
as for the lifespan on the motor.. 320,000 or so is average i believe, also.. being a 94, it qualifies for the HG recall, but might not have had it done yet, can always call the dealer with the VIN, get yourself some free shop work.

Thanks for the input guys.. If I can get a ride up there this weekend I'm going to look it over.
Yes it is a 3.0 and it's aparently in excelent condition but I haven't seen it yet. I'm usually good about talking to people so I maybe able to get the price down abit.
... Slightly off topic but needs to be said ...
I used to have a Dakota (yes I know) anyway I'm converting over to the Toyota world.
I'm glad to see that I've found a forum that has alot of people on it with some great information. We had a fairly tight group when I was on the Dakota boards and I hopefuly will be getting to know you guys alittle bit better.
If you'd like to see the horror I went threw with my dakota check out my pictures of the suspension lift. Click on the "lift" album

Sorry for the rant, but I would love to know if you have any idea where to get good help with Dodge trucks.

Feel free to ask me directly knobbyman@gmail.com .. I'm not checking this forum much yet because I just don't have time.
Their were two forums that I used to go to constantly.
http://www.dodgedakotas.com/
http://www.dakotausa.com/
I helped build Dakota USA.com but... it's kind of gone to the direction that you were talking about since some of us 4x4 guys left.
I still have some contacts so let me know.
So .. you have the stock sway bars? And you want to replace the rubber bushings? What year and is it a 4x4?

Sorry... I have yet to do the switch. As soon as I get the money I would like to get the Downey's, but just about any of the aftermarkets would be better. Do a search for "exhaust valve" and you will get some topics about them burning out and recomendations on headers or bypassing the crossover.
