I've got a 93 4x4 22re 5spd with power steering , I would like to raise it so I could run some 33" tires. I dont plan on doing any hardcore 4 wheelin with it, just some trails and logging roads. What would be the best way to acomplish this? I would like it to ride well and I don't want to damage any of the suspension. Thanks Frank.

 

Hi Frank, and welcome to YotaTech.

One of the easiest ways to fit 33" tires on your type of rig is to do a mild crank on the torsion bars up front, and a 1" body lift
from Roger Brown.
He makes the best body lifts kits around.

And for the back you can use a shackle from him, or other places carry them too.
AOR carries greasable ones.

Roger has some pics somewhere of a guy's truck he did a 1" body lift on, and put 33" tires on it.
The pics are not coming up for me though, so you'd have to get them from him.

Also if you crank the T bars up a bit, it's a good idea to have a set of manual hubs on there instead of the ADD setup.

Stock backspacing on 15x7 rims is 4.5", with 1/4" more backspacing and a 1" wider wheel, you end up with the inside edge of the wheel 1/4" closer to the frame and the outer edge 3/4" (1"-1/4") farther outside the fender. The key to fitting taller/wider tires on IFS is keeping them tucked in close to the frame. The wider out the stick, the bigger the arc is that they sweep when turned, so the more lift you need to fit them. Put that same tire on a 3.5" backspace rim (typical for solid axle trucks) and you'll likely need either a 2" body lift of a 4" IFS suspension lift to clear them.

Another option is to run a 33x10.50 tire on your stock rims. Lower cost since you don't buy new wheels.
