Damn,
I thought that my mileage was bad. I get ~320 miles/tank, mixed driving. 93 4runner V6 5spd 75K miles.

I was getting 22 MPG all hiway miles until I put the larger tires on. Now its about 19 MPG strictly highway and I only went with what is a 32" tire. Check your gearing - perhaps that is the start of your problem. Manual hubs helped some with my MPG.

The high numbers are from highway driving here in FL at 65 mph. (speed limit is 70) We have NO hills. I also run 225/75r15s or 235/75r15s
Did your 4runner come with 31's stock? That would explain the inflated MPG numbers.

I'm right in the same ball park as you are. I get around 300 or so mixed driving. I made a trip over to Eastern Washington over Chinook pass and down I-82 and got 23 MPG. My best ever. I climbed a steep pass but it kept my RPM's down so I think that is what helped. Normally I drive around at 70-75 and get 19 consistantly with BFG 31". And I'm not light on the pedal either. The worst I've ever gotten has been 17, so I think something might be wrong with the ones getting in the low teens. Unless the automatic soaks up that much mileage.

i think thats the major difference between some of these numbers...the gearing is different in the auto...this obviously makes a difference in city driving but even on the highway the 4:88 vs 4:56 would make a difference too...and if some of you guys are running lower end runners with stock 225's...the gearing is like 4:11...

I can get 350 miles on the highway - did it on my drive home from Seattle. I don't recommend that though - it was quite nerve racking for the last couple of miles till we found a gas station.

Hmmm...haha

Well......I get 10.8 mpg on the highway.....6mpg in city.....i have an iron foot though.....but you kinda have to...to just keep up with traffic....i have to give it all its got from stop lights on busy streets....its horendous....i have 128k on it now and have never replaced/checked the O2 sensor....i guess i should....never has been tuned up either.....it was just in the shop for a tranny replacement and they said it needed to new sparkplugs and plugwires....because it was idling at 400rpm....they put new sparkplugs in it but didnt put new wires....it still idles at 400 rpm....do any of yall think a combo of sparkplugs and wires could make it idle like this??....also...do yall think a treatment of auto-rx would help it any???....thanks..

i just filled up my gas tank tonight.

127 miles on the trip odo included (i havent changed it for the exact milage since i have bigger tires) most local stop and go driving, many drives less than 2 miles, very little highway driving, 4 15 mile trips of constant 45mph at 2300 RPM.

i filled up with 12.3 gallons

meaning i got just about 10mpg

OUCH, yes, OUCH

reclaculate it for bigger tires... 12 or 13mpg

Yes, do your wires, distributer cap, rotor, fuel filter, O2 sensor, and run some injector cleaner through it. That ought to bring your mileage back up and make it run much better.

No, it came with 225/75r15 bridgestone duallers stock.

I have the AUTO tranny the 24mpg was with 225s

I now have 235 6plys giving me 18-21 with a dead o2 sensor....
